Osei Tutu SHS celebrates 70th Anniversary
The presiding bishop of the Methodist church of Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, has urged government to shift focus from grammar type formal education to technical vocational education.

Consequently, the light industrial areas in Kumasi, 'Kokompe' in Accra and Takoradi must be adequately developed to provide hands on experience for technical students.

Most Rev. Prof Asante was speaking the 70th Anniversary of Osei Tutu Senior High School at Akropong, in the Ashanti Region.

The Methodist Church Ghana founded the Osei Tutu Senior High School at Asante Akropong in 1940. The student population has increased from 30 to 2,150.

Among the old students of the school are the immediate past President Mr. J.A Kufuor and his brother Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, as well as the Omanhene of the Akyerensua in the Brong Ahafo Region Agyiwoden Prof. Adu Gyamfi who is a pioneer student. As part of the programme, an exhibition of handiwork of visual arts students was mounted.

There was also a guard of honour mounted by the schools cadet corps and a cultural display.

Hardworking students and staff were also honoured for their commitment to duty and studies.
