Kojo Bonsu confirmed as new KMA Boss
Members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA by majority decision, confirmed Kojo Bonsu as the new Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive.

He polled 95 out of the 130 votes representing about 73 percent of the valid votes cast at an extra-ordinary Assembly Meeting in Kumasi on Tuesday.

The election was supervised by officials from the Ashanti Regional Office of the Electoral Commission. Upon his swearing-in, Mr. Kojo Bonsu will succeed Samuel Sarpong who has been appointed as the Central Regional Minister.

Until his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama and subsequent confirmation, Mr. Kojo Bonsu was the Chairman for the National Sports Authority.

In his victory speech, he urged the Assembly Members to eschew partisan politics in undertaking their official responsibilities.

They should rather cooperate with all stakeholders to enhance socio-economic development of Kumasi to restore the once Garden City of West Africa to its lost status.

This could be possible through the replanting of trees while reclaiming the waterways that have been polluted, as well as ensure good sanitation in the metropolis.

Mr. Kojo Bonsu emphasized that his role, during his tenure, will be to get the job done and to help provide security for innocent residents to go about their lawful duties.
At the same meeting, the Assembly Members re-elected Nana Kofi Senya as the Presiding Member after two rounds of voting.

He eventually polled 95 of the total votes with his closest contender, Michael Adusei Bonsu polling 35 votes.

Nana Kofi Senya, who is the Member for New Suame and a former Presiding Member of the Assembly, replaces Nana Owusu Apeasa whose two year tenure has just expired.
