FAO calls on member countries in West Africa to increase investment in agriculture
The Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO says if the goal of cutting extreme poverty by 2015 will be realised, more attention must be given to the agricultural sector.

It has therefore called on member countries in West Africa to invest in agriculture in order to reduce poverty on the continent.

According to the Deputy Regional Representative in charge of West Africa Sub Regional office of the FAO, Lamourdra Thiabiano, agriculture is key for growth and sustainable development.

Mr Thiombiano made the appeal at the opening of the sixth FAO West Africa Sub Regional Multi-disciplinary and management team meeting in Accra.
