The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) says the country will experience heavy rains next month and is therefore warning people in low lying areas to move onto higher ground.
Head of Research and Applied Meteorology at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Charles Yorke, also warned that the rains will be accompanied by heavy winds, lighting and thunder storms.
He said people should stay indoors during the period to avoid any harm.
Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs programme , “Focus,” Mr. Yorke said people should harvest rains in order to reduce the effects of heavy floods in the Metropolis across the country.
Local Government Expert Fred Agyarko Oduro called for a re-engineering of the city to stop the perennial flooding. He said the assemblies have the capacity to do this.
Senior Communication officer, Zoomlion Ghana, Daniel Ohene, said one major problem with waste disposal is the lack of land fill sites.
He also appealed to government for quick release of funds to waste management companies to make them effective.
