Metro Mass Transit MD asked to proceed on leave

The Managing Director of Metro Mass Transit (MMT), Bennet Aboagye, has been asked to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

A statement signed by the Board Chairman of MMT, Ahmed Arthur, said the Board is to set up a Committee to investigate series of allegations and corruption scandals that have rocked the company over the last few days.

The statement said in order for the Committee to have unfettered atmosphere within which to conduct its activities, the Board has decided that Mr. Aboagye proceeds on leave.

He is to hand over to the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations.

The Deputy General Secretary of Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Union, Francis Salah, says the Union welcomes the decision for the Managing Director of MMT to step aside for investigations to be conducted.

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme, 'Behind The News', he told host Ibrahim Kwarteng, that they want a thorough investigation to be conducted to save Metro Mass Transport.
