A cross-section of residents in Koforidua have expressed their excitement about the nomination of a former Attorney General, Martin Alamisi Benz-Kaiser Amidu, as the first Special Prosecutor of the country by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to them, his appointment is in a right direction because he has proved to be an independent character in discharging his duties during the Late Professor Atta Mills administration as the former Attorney General.

Therefore the existence of a Special Prosecutor in the country, they added, will help to eliminate corruption in the country.

However, it is also their expectation that the special prosecutor will discharge his duties without fear or favour.
