The Achimota Senior High School student who shot and killed a female colleague has appealed against the 3-year sentence given him to spend in a correctional facility.
The convict had gone for his father’s gun which was under a bed with the intent of shooting in the air, but he ended up killing his friend, Lily Donkor who was a third year student of the same school.
The 17-year-old convict was found guilty for manslaughter by an Accra Juvenile court. He was a minor at the time of the incident January 4, 2017, so the case was heard in camera.
In the high court presided over by J.K Dorgu, it turned out that although the applicant appellant were ready for the case to be heard, the Attorney General was not served a notice of the appeal.
The judge has therefore asked the counsel of the appellant to serve the Attorney General with a copy of the appeal notice and appear before him on December 12 for hearing.
