London police respond to reports of 'shots fired' on Oxford Street

London police have urged people to avoid the Oxford Street area after receiving reports of shots fired in the busy commercial district on Friday evening.

Oxford Circus incident: what we know

•Police were called to respond to an incident at 16.38 GMT after receiving a number of reports of shots fired on Oxford

•Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station

•An urgent search of the area found no evidence of shots fired, casualties or suspects
•One woman sustained a minor injury when leaving the station
Oxford Circus and Bond Street stations have been re-opened following temporary closure, and people advised to seek shelter were told they could leave
