The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Samson Asaki Awingobit has asked port officials to take a second look at the benchmarking of imported goods.
According to him, the introduction of the benchmark system has led to significant increase in import duties, sometimes by four times.
According to him, there has however been improvement and ease in clearing of goods following the arrival of Dubai Custom World.
Meanwhile some importers and clearing Agents at the Tema Port are unhappy at the President’s inability to address them as part of his visit to the Tema Port yesterday.
The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, Samson Asaki Awingobit expressed the sentiment when he spoke to GBC`s Edith Atiaka-Eshun.
