The Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Osei Kuffour Afreh, says a Malaria vaccine will soon be added to the thirteen vaccines that children under five years receive to protect them from diseases.
Speaking at an Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) and Disease Surveillance Review Meeting of the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Directorate, Dr. Afreh called for a renewed effort to meet immunization targets as the effectiveness of vaccines in protecting children is well documented.
He said the use of these vaccines has put Ghana on the threshold of eliminating some of the childhood killer diseases, such as Poliomyelitis.
