GAS EXPLOSION AT MADINA ATOMIC JUNCTION

A gas explosion has been reported at the Madina Atomic junction near Accra where there is a cluster of filling stations. There are no confirmed reports of a fatality but many are believed to have been injured in the explosion.

The location of the accident is close to some hostels of the University of Ghana Legon and is normally a beehive of activity where commuters link up with other areas in that part of the city.

The Fire Service, Police and the Ambulance Service have all deployed emergency personnel to the area. According to the Police Director of Operations, Dr Akuffo Dampare, his personnel are working to get the situation under control.

This incident is the latest in a chain of accidents involving gas filling stations.
