The Police in Kumasi have arrested two men for allegedly printing fake Ghana Cedi notes with the intent of circulating the fake currency in the system.

They are 31 year old Dauda Issah and Osman Issah, age 30.

However, a third suspect, Mallam Abdul-Rahaman managed to escape arrest and is believed to be hiding at either Techiman in Brong Ahafo or Tamale in the Northern Region.

At a media briefing in Kumasi, the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng, said the suspects, who are in Police custody, were arrested at their hide out at Adum in Kumasi last Thursday.

According to her, the Police retrieved from the suspects 14 bundles of the Ten Ghana Cedi notes with each of them amounting to GH¢1,000.00.

ASP Juliana Obeng said a machine believed to be used for the production of the fake local currency was also impounded as exhibits.

She said the suspects would be arraigned before court as soon as investigations are concluded.
