India guru rape: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh jailed for 10 years

A controversial Indian godman convicted of rape on Friday has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Indian security forces have been put on high alert ahead of the sentencing of a controversial man convicted of rape.

The convict's followers went on a violent rampage after the ruling in which 38 people were killed.

Curfew has been imposed in several areas while the capital Delhi is on alert.

The army has been put on standby and police say they have been given "shoot on sight" orders in case of trouble.

The controversial leader of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, which claims to have 60 million followers around the world will not appear in court for his sentence but the judge will go to the prison where he is held to deliver it.
