A boy who went viral on social media after dancing the Macarena in front of traffic was arrested in Saudi Arabia.
The arrest on August 22 came after the video of the 14-year-old dancing at a pedestrian crossing in Jeddah was widely circulated on Twitter.
In the 45-second clip, the boy can be seen dancing to the popular 1990s hit in front of five lanes of cars at a traffic light.
The teenager was questioned after being accused of “improper public behaviour” and disrupting traffic, a statement said.
The video has divided opinion on social media, with some calling his actions immoral while others defended and praised the boy’s comic behaviour.
The 14-year-old whose nationality is unknown was released today (August 23) without charge after questioning, an interior ministry statement said.
It added that the boy and his legal guardian had signed a pledge that the teen “will not engage in behaviour that could endanger his life and the lives of others again”.
