Egypt has criticised the United States after it reportedly withheld 195 million dollars in military aid, and cut 96 million dollars in other aid over human rights concerns.

An Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement said the move which has not yet been announced reflects "poor judgement".

As a result, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has cancelled a meeting with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law.

Sources say the move is because US officials are unhappy that a new law regulating NGOs has been ratified.
