Ghana Senior High School, the second oldest Second Cycle institution in the Northern Region is reeling under poor infrastructure.
The dilapidated boys dormitory, laboratories, and inadequate classrooms are among numerous challenges facing the school.
According to the Headmistress, Hajia Amina Musah, students are sometimes compelled to sit under trees because they do not have enough classrooms.
Hajia Amina disclosed this when the 1996 year group of old students presented three poly tanks with a capacity of thirty thousand litres to the school.
A five unit classroom block which was built more than five years ago has been abandoned because the school refused to accept the project due to structural defects.
The Spokesperson for the 96 year group, Hajia Hafsa Sey Sumani, said Ghanasco is a pale shadow of itself in terms of infrastructure and called on individuals, organisations, groups and old students to come to the aid of the school.
Ghana Senior High School has an enviable list of alumni, including Former President John Dramani Mahama, Former First Lady Lordina Mahama, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Abdul Nasiru Issahaku and three times African footballer of the year, Abedi Ayew Pele.
