Ministries, Departments and Agencies that have not registered with the Data Protection Commission have been directed to do so immediate before the law catches up with them.

As data Processors and Controllers, they are to set the right example by registering and complying with the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) and the Right to Privacy Act as enshrined in the Constitution.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo gave the directive in a message to the Data Protection Conference in Accra.

He said data protection is vital to the economic development of the nation, therefore its violation is not just an affront to justice but a deliberate effort to undermine the development of the country.
