Court remands artisan in Koala robbery case

One Artisan Rashid Bashiru has been remanded into police custody for abetment of crime in the armed robbery case at Koala Shopping Arcade which occurred last year by an Accra circuit Court.

He has also been charged for possessing fire arms and ammunition without lawful authority.

One marketing Administrator with Koala group of companies in Accra, Lydia Horsu, was shot and robbed of her personal belongings at Cantonments by a group of robbers who were on board a motor bike.

A taxi driver who witnessed the incident chased them with his vehicle and knocked them off their motor bike.

A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the now convicts, Stanley Obaliko, alias Mohammed Sulemana and Okoe Quarcoe who were on board the said motor bike.

In the investigation statements of convict Okoe, he mentioned the name of the accused and gave his number as the one who gave him the pistol and he also gave same to convict Stanly Obaliko which he used to shoot the complainant.

Convict Michael Edoe Ahiataku also mentioned accused Rashid Bashiru's name as their accomplice. Efforts by police to arrest the accused person proved futile as he together with one Akpenye, an accomplice, went into hiding to escape arrest.

The police intelligence led to his arrest from his hide-out at Achimota on the tenth of January this year. He has however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court has adjourned the case to the 5th of next month.
