Death toll in Kintampo waterfalls incident rises to 19

The death toll in the Kintampo Water Falls disaster has risen to nineteen.
Victims are believed to be mostly students from the Wenchi Senior High School.
According to reports, they were swimming when thunder struck a tree at the waterfalls killing them.
Radio Ghana's Correspondent John Sam Arthur said a combined team of police and fire service personnel was at the accident site to rescue those trapped.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture , Catherine Afeku, has expressed her sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims caught up in the unfortunate rainstorm that hit the Kintampo waterfalls yesterday killing and injuring many.
Speaking to Radio Ghana the PRO of the Ministry, Frank Siaw-Otu said the Ghana Tourism Authority will work closely with the Ghana Police service and the Kintampo District Assembly to ensure the families receive the needed support and information.
He added that the minister will visit the site this morning.
