After a series of setbacks, the Ghana Premier League finally started with matches across five venues to end the five-month break.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko faced a tough test at home as the Porcupine warriors came from a goal down to beat Liberty Professional two-one at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Benjamin Eshon opened scoring for Liberty before Yakubu Mohammed won the game for Kotoko with a brace.
Aduana Stars who finished second last season started their season with one-nil victory over Ashanti-Gold at the Dorma Park.
Tema Youth returned to the top flight league to humble Berekum Chelsea two-nil at the Tema park.
