70% Input For Solar Panel Installation Discourages Beneficiaries

As part of efforts to encourage the use of renewable energy in the country, the Energy Commission is to distribute 200,000 solar panels by 2020.
The target recipients are residential and Small Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
The project is on a pilot basis for residential houses.
The Principal Programme Officer, Renewable Energy at the Energy Commission, Frederick Appiah who spoke to Radio Ghana said most applicants have halted proceedings midway upon realising that they are to contribute about 70 percent of the cost.
