The National Chief Imam and a delegation of Muslim leaders Monday morning called on President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to congratulate him on his victory in the December, polls.
Accompanied by Ahmire of the Ahmadiyya Mission, Maulvi Wahab Bin Salih, the Chief Imam lauded the peaceful nature of the election but expressed worry over post-election attacks, as being reported in the media.
Spokesperson for the Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw assured Nana Akufo Addo of their continuous prayer and support in governing the country.
President elect, Nana Akufo Addo was grateful to the muslim community for its support in his resounding victory.
He said the NPP increased its votes in the Zongo communities in the 2016 election and stressed the need for peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims adding, members of both religions are Ghanaians and must continue to exist peacefully.
He was concerned about reported cases of excesses of jubilation across the country calling for circumspection and respect of the rights of others.
